What are wellness plans?

At The Bluffs Pet Clinic we believe that the best way to keep our pets healthy is to prevent problems before they arise by bringing them in for routine wellness visits and making sure they are current on vaccinations and annual diagnostic testing. To make it easier for our patients to receive the best preventive care we are making it easier for our clients to afford these recommendations by splitting the cost into 12 monthly payments.

What treatments are included in the Wellness Plan?

The plan that you select determines what is covered with your Wellness Plan. See the attached “Wellness Plan Services” checklist or ask us for more details.  When coming in for a free exam a scheduled appointment is required. Any recommended diagnostic tests or treatments will be additional unless included in your wellness plan.

Why does my adult pet need everything included in the Enhanced Wellness Plan?

The Enhanced Wellness plans do provide all of the treatments that we recommend pets have annually including blood work and dental cleanings for pets of ALL ages.   Having your pet’s teeth cleaned yearly can help to prevent painful gum disease, abscessed teeth, and tooth extractions.  The annual blood work can also help us to detect changes in organ function. Earlier detection of these changes means better treatment options so your pet can live a longer, healthier life.

Why does my senior pet need everything included in the Senior Wellness Plan?

The additional services in the senior plan include an annual thyroid test, x-ray, and distemper titer.  As pets age they may become either more or less protected from the diseases for which we commonly vaccinate. The distemper titer is a blood test that measures your pet’s antibodies which will help us to determine whether or not your pet needs additional distemper vaccinations.  We commonly see Thyroid disease in senior pets. Initiating treatment before they start to show clinical signs of disease means a better quality of life for your pet and fewer complications from the disease. Chest and abdominal x-rays provide us an early screening for heart, lung, and other organ diseases as well as screening for signs of cancer. X-rays of the joints will help us screen for arthritis, disease in the spine, and certain cancers. Your doctor will help to determine which x-rays are recommended for your pet.

What is included in the routine dental cleaning?

Following a pre-anesthetic exam, EKG, and required blood work your pet will be placed under gas anesthesia.  A Certified Veterinary Technician will monitor your pet’s heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels while your doctor performs a thorough assessment of their oral health. The dental includes cleaning and polishing the teeth as well as assessing for any abnormalities. Full mouth dental x-rays are included to help us further evaluate the teeth below the gum line. At that time we will call you with any recommendations for extractions, other treatments or medications.  These would be performed at an additional cost.

How are the payments made and what forms of payment are accepted?

The annual fee will be divided into 12 equal payments which will be deducted from your account monthly. These withdrawals will occur on either the 1st or the 15th of each month (whichever you prefer) and can be deducted from your checking, savings, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express account.

May I make my monthly payment by cash or check?

We are sorry, but at this time we are not offering that option. You can, however, pay the total cost of the wellness plan up front using cash or check.

Can I use my wellness plan at any other veterinary clinics?

Wellness plans offered through The Bluffs Pet Clinic cover care offered only at The Bluffs Pet Clinic during business hours. They do not cover services offered at other veterinary clinics or after hour emergency care.

What happens if I do not use all the services in my plan?

All of the products and services included in the plan are those that we would likely recommend for your pet. If your pet does not receive one or more of the services included in your plan there is no discount or refund given. Unused services do not roll over into the next contract year.

Will my wellness plan be automatically renewed?

Yes, we will contact you approximately 30 days prior to the expiration of your wellness plan to confirm, however if we are unable to reach you, then you plan will automatically renew.

I originally purchased a basic Wellness Plan, is it possible to upgrade to the Enhanced Wellness Plan?

Yes, you can pay the difference between the two plans for the number of payments that you have already made. This upgrade will apply to future services for the remainder of your contract.

What if I am moving or the pet I bought the wellness plan for is no longer with me? Can I cancel my wellness plan?

In this instance you may choose to pay regular price for the services and products already received under the plan or the remaining installments, whichever is less.  If no services have been rendered, then you are eligible for a refund of the deductions made to date.  You cannot cancel your wellness plan prior to the expiration date without paying full price for discounted services already received.

I am adopting a pet that is currently covered by a Bluffs Pet Clinic wellness plan. Are they still covered?

Yes, as long as there is no lapse in monthly deductions we can change the account that the deductions are debited from and continue coverage for your new pet.
