Acupuncture

Old canine

Acupuncture is an alternative therapy based on TCVM that has been used for thousands of years to reduce inflammation, stimulate healing, and improve recovery. Our experienced doctors use this technique as an integrative and complementary supplement to our Wellness services and Herbal Therapies to ensure your pet receives the highest standard of personalized care.

A pet acupuncture session is similar to that for humans, and involves the insertion of thin sterile needles into specific points on the body where the nerves and blood vessels meet. The treatment enhances blood circulation and releases endorphins, which helps with pain relief and encourages your pet’s body to heal itself naturally. Read our blog to learn more about the benefits of Tui Na therapy for your pet. At the Bluffs Pet Clinic, we use acupuncture to treat the following:

  • Allergies and skin disorders
  • Arthritis and joint disease
  • Asthma
  • Liver and kidney problems
  • Digestive issues
  • Cancer
  • Anxiety
  • Seizures
  • Back Injuries

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na (pronounced “twee-nah”) is a form of traditional Chinese therapeutic massage. This manual bodywork technique has been used for thousands of years to stimulate blood circulation and restore the flow of energy within the body. At the Bluffs Pet Clinic, our professional doctors combine Tui-Na and acupuncture therapy in a holistic approach to treat muscle and ligament injuries, joint pain and stiffness, and/or digestive and immune disorders in cats and dogs.

Tui-na can improve sensory awareness and mental focus, while also providing pain relief from improved blood flow. And just like humans, pets are sure to enjoy the relaxing and energizing effects of a therapeutic massage.
